Early Life and Career

Norris von Schirach was born in Hamburg, Germany, on November 10, 1873. He began his career in theatre as an actor and stage manager before becoming a director in 1902. He quickly established himself as a leading figure in the German theatre scene and directed plays by some of the most renowned playwrights of the time, including Henrik Ibsen, August Strindberg, and Anton Chekhov.

Emigrating to the United States

In 1925, Norris von Schirach emigrated to the United States, where he continued his work in theatre. He directed several Broadway productions and worked extensively with the Theatre Guild, one of the most influential theatre companies in New York City at the time. He also taught theatre at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts.

Later Years and Legacy

Norris von Schirach died in New York City on July 11, 1949.
