South Carolina Football: Tight End Norwood Committing to Cincinnati
Former South Carolina football player Jaheim Oatis is transferring to the University of Alabama.
Oatis made the announcement on his social media channels, posting a graphic that read "BAMA COMMITTED."
The 6-foot-4, 358-pound Oatis was a four-star recruit coming out of Columbia (S.C.) High School in the 2021 class. He played in all 13 games for the Gamecocks last season as a true freshman, primarily on special teams.
With Oatis now transferring to Alabama, the Gamecocks will be looking to replace his production on special teams. They could also look to other players on the roster, such as Josh Vann or Ahmarean Brown, to step up and fill the void.
Norwood was a key part of the Gamecocks' offense last season, catching 35 passes for 534 yards and three touchdowns.
He also played a key role in the team's running game, blocking for Marshawn Lloyd and company.
Norwood is expected to make an immediate impact for the Bearcats, who are looking to replace All-American tight end Josh Whyle.
Norwood has good size and strong hands, and he is also a willing and able blocker.
He is expected to be a major target for quarterback Evan Prater in the Bearcats' passing game.
Norwood's commitment is a big win for the Bearcats, who are looking to make a run at the College Football Playoff this season.
